The Importance of Schedules

I have become kind of a freak when it comes to schedules…..I LOVE to schedule everything out! My workouts, my daily chores, our dinners, etc.  This way, there’s no wasted time thinking about what I’m going to be doing.  I am on a mission to better my life, last year it felt very chaotic everyday, what needs to be cleaned, what am I going to make for dinner….therefore lots of fast food nights, bad, bad, bad!  Organization has always given me great energy in life so I am working on organizing every aspect I can.

I have invested in a weekly white board and it makes everything so much easier.  I have it right near my kitchen, when I am at my sink I can see everything on it.  I do the same meals each day each week.  My son usually eats what we eat, but I make him a separate side, like a fruit and/or veggie as well.

For my chores, I do each task when I get home for the day.  I also have a cleaning schedule I do everyday, which I will be sharing with you as well.  I feel much more relaxed everyday when I wake up and when I go to bed! I used to not do any chores during the week and leave everything for the weekend, but I found that it took time away from something fun I could be doing with my son.  And, now Sundays are a scheduled fun day, my husband and I think of something different each week we think our son would enjoy!  I will be sharing with you guys the different activities that we do 🙂

Mondays are reserved for date night for me and my hubby.  He works odd hours, so we don’t get to see each other very much, so we make Monday our official date night, him and I go out and we try to think of different and fun things to do!  I will be sharing these with you guys as well!

Thanks for reading!

Finding time to work out

With my schedule I found it very hard to take my son to the gym childcare right after I picked him up from daycare because I would be done with the gym around 7pm and once we got home, it was dinnertime, then bath time and then bedtime……that didn’t give me fulfillment as a mommy!  The evening is the only time I get to spend with him and I wanted to enjoy it!  So what I have decided to do is workout at 5am,  my husband and my son are still sleeping by the time I get back from the gym. I also have some extra time on my hands, I make myself breakfast, shower and get ready before my son gets up! (He wakes up around 7am)  This has been the key to consistency because no one interrupts your gym plans at 5am, most people aren’t even awake!  If you go after work, people can interfere more, like “let’s go out to dinner” or “do you want to go to HomeGoods?”  Who can resist HomeGoods??!!!

I’m not going to lie, it is very hard to try to wake up at 4:30 in the morning!  My best advice is to go to sleep as early as you can.  I try to go to sleep right after I put my son down, I aim to be asleep before 9pm.

I also purchased an amazing alarm clock that simulates the sun rising, I place it right next to my bed on my nightstand.  It gradually gets brighter and then an alarm goes off.  I also have an alarm set on my phone for about 5 minutes after the other alarm goes off.  I set this to Alicia Keys “Girl On Fire” this pumps up…… or sometimes scares me lol!

Working out in the morning has really changed my life in so many positive ways!
